Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against KB Home and Richmond American Homes of California Inc. on behalf of homeowners in the Haysley Hills development. The suit alleges that KB Home underestimated the costs of maintaining the neighborhood, and is now charging residents association dues that are double the amount that they were told they would have to pay per month.

List of Best and Worst Colorado Builders Released

September 14, 2005 - J. D. Power, the internationally recognized provider of quality and customer satisfaction surveys, released their 2005 rankings of Colorado Homebuilders. Leading the list in quality in this year’s survey was Shea Homes. Unfortunately, Richmond American, Colorado’s largest homebuilder, was ranked second from the bottom with D.R. Horton holding the dubious distinction of being Colorado’s worst homebuilder – again. Read the full report.

The Rich Get Richer

August 5, 2005 – As reported in today’s Rocky Mountain News, Larry Mizel, head of MDC Holdings, the parent company of Richmond American Homes, Colorado’s largest homebuilder, added another $19.5 million to his compensation this year. This comes on the heels of a $20million + "bonus" that both Mizel, and MDC President David Mandrich were awarded in January.

We think it is important to note that Richmond homes consistently rates at or near the bottom of consumer satisfaction surveys for home quality.

As David Milstead, the RMN reporter noted: Mizel was tops in 2004 in the News' study of executive pay with more than $32 million, much of it from option profits. Looks like he has an early lead for 2005.

Having received no satisfaction from Richmond Homes, we are writing directly to you,. I wish to register a complaint on warranty issues that have not been completed to our satisfaction. We purchased our home in April 2, 1999 from Richmond American Homes, Colorado (303) 773-2727.

"I bought my house from Colorado's largest homebuilder, Richmond American Homes," Simmons said.

``Would I do it again? Hell no."
